Aaron Bacher

Intrapreneur – Green New Deal

Aaron was born in Seattle, Washington, USA, under the watchful shadow of Mount Rainer/Tacoma and near the Duwamish River. He has lived and worked in the USA, Portugal, Australia, Wellington, Whangārei and Masterton, and now lives out west in Tāmaki Makaurau.

He studied development studies at Victoria University and landscape architecture at the University of Wisconsin. Aaron has previously worked in fair trade coffee, community development, urban design and construction.

Aaron is driven by the overwhelming need for real change in the systems that impact everyday life. His work focuses on a Green New Deal for Aotearoa and how we can deliver radical improvement in environmental and social wellbeing through an economic engine, an engine which runs on clean tech, is embedded in equity and is culturally regenerative by design. Aaron is part of The Western Initiative team, a place-based kaupapa focusing on uplifting the people and land of Tāmaki Makaurau ki te Uru.
