Joel came to Aotearoa from the Philippines. He has worked as an economist, aid worker, and advisor for several international development projects focusing on community empowerment, social finance and digital inclusion.

He is passionate about making the impossible possible and turning complexity into an opportunity. His commitment to social justice and providing opportunities for people to develop their entrepreneurial talent and adapt to the fast-changing nature of work. His devotion to his job is driven by the potential of digital technologies to bring about youth inclusion and social change.

Joel has been with TSI for five years and has enjoyed his part in establishing the Makercity strategy and the MakerHood movement, both of which reflect his interest in how tech changemakers make beautiful connections that create extraordinary outcomes.
